Automatic Machine for Ultrasonic Welding of Air-Permeable Membranes

The project involves the development of an automatic machine for ultrasonic welding of a special PTFE membranethat is permeable to air but impermeable to water. The solution is designed as a standalone, modular cell, ensuring reliable and repeatable membrane integration into plastic components.

The machine features an input and output buffer, enabling continuous operation and clear separation of good and rejected parts. The membrane is precisely fed from an unwinding unit, then positioned and pressed into place using vacuum assistance.

This is followed by ultrasonic welding of the membrane, after which the system:

  • verifies membrane presence,
  • performs an air flow test through the membrane,
  • confirms correct product functionality.

Defective or non-conforming parts are automatically rejected into a dedicated scrap container. All operations take place inside a protected enclosure, ensuring operator safety, noise reduction, and stable welding conditions.
